The heat is here and the kids are outside playing on your equipment. Don’t be caught with unknown hazards that are brought to your attention because of injuries. Regular maintenance is a must to reduce and hopefully eliminate injuries to our children.

Regular Maintenance Service is what is necessary to help keep the play equipment in compliance.

Whichever service schedule you would choose to have our company do, you will receive an inspection by a certified playground safety inspector per tot lot per service. We power spray all of the playground and ramada equipment with 2,000 p.s.i. of boiling hot sanitizing solution. We also tighten any loose specialty nuts and bolts, replace general nuts and bolts, remove as much graffiti as possible, rake and level the sand or engineered wood fiber, sweep or blow off the sidewalks, ramada floors and tot turf. We will take digital photos of the repairs needed and quickly send them to you in an e-mail and/or phone call followed by a price for repair. If there is immediate danger we will barricade or tape off the tot lots affected.

When HOA playgrounds or tot lots are installed, in order to be in compliance a playground design architect has to measure the area first to determine what equipment can be installed and still be in compliance. Every piece of play equipment has a specific use zone that all has to work in concert with the rest of the equipment. Even after it is installed it has to be determined according to the height how deep the sand, wood fiber or shredded rubber should be. Then the same has to be done for ADAAG mandated poured in place tot turf. In addition to the depth of this they have to determine how much square footage of each will be. Then they have to determine how much earth has to be removed to assure the equipment will be at the proper height for the protective surface.

Virtually every part, pipe, clamp, deck, nut, bolt, slope of the decks etc. has to be exact down to the size of the bolts and what kind they can be.

If an inexperienced or unlicensed installer installs this it is likely you will have a difficult time finding a company to do an audit so it can be open for use.

I also believe it would have a very difficult time passing the audit. I would not recommend having it installed this way. We do not do new complete installs for this reason and will only use IPEMA certified play equipment and manufacturer approved installers.

Please remember the goal is to have fun in a safe environment. Just something to consider, I hope this helps.

Thank You

We service playground and ramada equipment, but we also service ADA and ADAAG poured in place tot turf.

It is important to remember that the ADA, and ADAAG mandated poured in place tot turf is expensive and necessary for wheel chair and other handicap access. In other words it cannot be removed unless you are willing to assume the liability of the tot lot.

Unfortunately at this time we are seeing that the life cycle of what has been installed years ago is beginning to disintegrate or “Granulate”. The pads are also showing signs of shrinkage at the sidewalk borders causing trip hazards. The reason the holes and the shrinking is developing is because in large part it is in need of a “Polycoat Application”. This is a flexible poly based product that is applied over the surface to give it a clean and bright look. This poly coat application helps the stop the tot turf from breaking down, shrinking, disintegrating or granulating and helps to preserve it. This should be done every 1-2 years depending on conditions. After any needed repairs are made and the poly coat is applied the tot turf pads can last a long time with regular maintenance.

After this is done it should be inspected on annual schedule at minimum to help prevent the spreading of any further damage. If you have our scheduled service we will inspect it along with the ramada and playground equipment at no additional charge.

If repairs and a polycoat application is not performed the tot turf will continue to break down, disintegrate or granulate, shrink and develop holes at a faster rate. At that time the entire “ Top Coat” will have to be removed, hauled away, disposed of and the a new top coat or layer will have to be installed at a much much higher cost. Please don’t let that happen to your tot lots.

Electrostatic painting creates a uniform, durable finish on metal without drips and bubbles that occur with traditional liquid paints. It’s used on many plastics and all types of metal surfaces. The electrostatic painting process also assures uniform coverage and less change of rust in the future.

Electrostatic painting is also called “powder coating.” It uses the principal of “opposites attract” by using electrically charged powders. The dry power, made up of resins and pigments are fed from a container to a spray gun where low amp, high voltage charge is imparted on the powder.

The material being painted is electrically grounded. When sprayed, the charged power firmly attached to the grounded part’s surface. Essentially, the paint magnetically attaches to the surface. These electrically charged powders create a shiny, factory-smooth finish.

Common surfaces using electrostatic painting:

Doors and windows
Ofice furniture
Elevator doors
Patio furniture
Bathroom stall – partitions
School or gym lockers
Machinery
File cabinets
Metal work stations
Equipment in gyms
Supermarket racks and cases
Lockers in spas, hospitals, labs, etc.
